Enjoy your new slimmer, fast iPhoto or Photos library! Temps are rising AVOID THIS APP! The App went through my photos and changed the dates of some so that they no longer appear grouped by date when I select “Photos” from the iphoto left-hand menu. So some of my son’s birthday pictures which should be in, say, Feb 2015 are now scattered throughout 2015 so that I can’t find them all at once under the same date. Inexplicably, the date in the photo data itself (found via get info) has been changed. The customer service (clearly a foreign-based phone bank -I could hardly hear because of the background chatter of other operators on other phones) wanted me to allow them to link into my computer to review “whether there is something wrong with my hard drive” or the software itself.
No way would I give a stranger access to my computer. Check out the reviews for the pro version -seems like a scam they use to try to sell you “hardware improvements” once you allow them into your computer. I’d say this app is a disaster, and I’m not sure why it has 4.5 stars. I so wish I had just lived with the duplicates and never run this.

I’d say this app is a disaster, and I’m not sure why it has 4.5 stars. I so wish I had just lived with the duplicates and never run this. The Pic Holder Easy To Use After years of copy paste, we had 86,000 pics of our kids (ok, our kids feet, eye balls, 30 bursts of pictures of the carpet, but occasionally a good pic of the kids). Moving computers several times we never were sure which pics we already had, so we moved them over and over again. I ran this app on my library and it worked flawlessly. I had 21,000 duplicates. It showed which pictures it would keep and which ones it would get rid of after it ran.
It also dumped all the dups into a special albulm so we could delete just those pictures. It was awesome! Though I’m having a hard time deleting the dups My boys are so cute Maybe I’ll just save off that albulm to a different place Yeah, here we go again Bottom line, great app. The Pic Holder Easy To Use After years of copy paste, we had 86,000 pics of our kids (ok, our kids feet, eye balls, 30 bursts of pictures of the carpet, but occasionally a good pic of the kids).

The Glad One XXXXX WARNING!!! THIS IS A DANGEROUS APP!!! XXXXX I downloaded this app to get rid of duplicates in my Photo Library. Well, it got rid of the duplicates, but it also deleted all the folders I had painstakingly created in Photos. I have around 6,000 travel photos I had organized into folders titled with place names and dates. This app removed all of these folders from Photos.
The pictures (in bulk) are still there, but all my hard organizational work is gone, and I’m not sure that I will be able to reconstruct it. It will take a lot of work to redo the folders as best I can, but it will never be as good as it originally was. I use Time Machine and had a couple years worth of Photo Libraries backed up to an external drive, but there are no organizational data stored in any of them, only the bulk photos. So be advised, having a backup or sequential backups of your Photo Library will not preserve the folders you create. This is an issue that Apple needs to rectify.
But just so you know, this app will potentially destroy all your organizational data, i.e. The folders you create in Photos. BTW, I called their tech support number and had one of their techs use Linked In to rummage around on my computer to no avail.
He could not find the folders either, not on my computer and not on my backup drive. It’s devastating to find out that your handy-dandy new FREE APP has cost you plenty!! So, caveat emptor! The Glad One XXXXX WARNING!!!
